JUST RELEASED FEB. '99 NWT Arts Council Grant recipient, Jack Van Camp, and his bony ol' band the Electric Chair Skeletons, just released their debut album - Lateral Lightning through Shadowland Records. |
Electric Chair Skeletons -
|
blend an eclectic variety of musical influences, including R & B, Funk, Latin, Reggae, C & W, and Classic Rock, into a unique sound all their own. |

| It all started innocently enough, with some friends getting together for a jam in Fort Smith, NWT. | |

From such humble beginnings was born the musical entity which would become the Electric Chair Skeletons, (or "Skellys" as they are affectionately known by their friends & fans). |
| For co-founders, Jack Van Camp, and brothers Phil & Noel Mackenzie, the Skellys was a good excuse to have some fun and play around with some musical ideas. | |

Before long it was "hey....I got a crazy idea...let's make a CD!. In October of '97 they started laying down the initial tracks of what would eventually become the Electric Chair Skeletons' first CD release, Lateral Lightning. |
In February of '98, unexpected tragedy struck. |

Phil died suddenly of a heart
attack in his sleep, leaving everyone reeling in shock, and grief. Jack and Noel put the
CD project on the back burner, while they dealt with their profound loss. |
|
| By May of '98, Jack and Noel were ready to resurrect the Skellys, feeling that the best tribute they could pay Phil would be to finish the CD. |
They also wanted to perform their original songs at the 10th annual South Slave Friendship Festival in Fort Smith in August of '98. They sought the assistance of bassist Gordon Seymour, who eagerly accepted. Noel swapped his bass for a guitar, and was faced with the daunting task of filling Phil's rather large shoes. |

In short order, blues harp player, Brian Milligan, and percussionist Gene Seymour came on board as well, filling out the lineup to it's present compliment. It became evident very quickly that this union was going to be a fruitful one. | ![]() Gene Seymour |
