Larry Gray is a wildlife biologist, environmental educator, singer/songwriter and ecopsychologist. His lifelong love affair with the natural world has taken him down several paths. One of those is that of a singer/songwriter. " When I was 18, I put a Gordon Lightfoot album borrowed from my sister on the turntable and when I heard the Canadian Railroad Trilogy, I was hooked. I said to myself, I want to be able to play and sing that; so I bought a guitar and taught myself". Years of listening and watching Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn, John Denver and others led him to develop a unique style but one obviously derived from these influences.

Larry has lived and worked in the Northwest Territories of Canada for 12 years in places like Rankin Inlet, Arviat, Yellowknife and now Fort Smith.

As a wildlife biologist, he has gained an intimate knowledge of and respect for the northern environment and wildlife. In 1996, Larry received a N.W.T. Arts Council grant to write and record a CD of original music. He wrote and recorded eight songs with an environmental theme. Supported by an able group of local musicians, sound engineer and producer based in Fort Smith, the result has received much acclaim. Larry’s lyrics are mature, sensitive and intelligent. The melodies can be haunting and inspiring. These songs are both a celebration of the natural world and a lament for its loss.

Larry is now "taking his show on the road" and leaving the studio to focus on public performing.
His performances include his environmental songs as well many others from the folk genre all tempered with a sense of humour. Anyone who loves Lightfoot music will want to hear Larry.
His public performances include the 1996 South Slave Friendship Festival in Fort Smith, 1997 Harmony Foundation’s Summer Institute in Environmental Values Education in Victoria, 1997
